        Jiangsu College of Engineering and Technology (JCET) is a state-run full-time vocational college, managed by the Jiangsu Provincial Government. It is a national Model Vocational College. Located in Nantong, Jiangsu Province, JCET enjoys the convenience of quick and easy transportation within the one-hour-economic-zone of Shanghai. Its history can be traced back to the first textile school inChinaas far back as 1912. It was established by Mr. Zhang Jian, the famous patriotic industrialist and educationist. JCET has established a profound cultural accumulation with one hundred years of training large numbers of excellent graduates for the economic and social development of Jiangsu province, as well as the whole ofChina.

        JCET is a comprehensive higher education institute with over 10,000 full-time students and embracing cutting edge engineering science as its main focus. JCET has two campuses, one in Nantong City, the other in Haimen County, covering nearly 2,000 Mu (1 Mu equals to 666.67 square meters). Students here take advantage of emerging teaching facilities and scientific teaching methodologies.

        JCET covers 7 schools as follows: School of Textile and Dyeing, School of Electromechanics, School of Construction, School of Business, School of Art, School of Fashion, School of Aviation. Besides having established more than 50 training workshops, JCET has a Modern Textile Technology Training Base funded by China’s Central Financial Ministry, a Textile Designer’s Professional Qualification Training Center funded at state level, a Home-textile and Costume Engineering Technology Research Center funded at provincial level, Jiangsu Technological Center of Wind-solar Hybrid Project for Power Generation, a Provincial Model Training Base, a Local Municipal Costume Technology Innovation Center, a Provincial Model Training Base-course-experiments and a State Vocational Skill Appraisal Office.

        JCET endeavors to maintain a structured team with an integration of part-time and full-time teaching staff with advanced teaching philosophies and professional skills. In addition to over 250 part-time teachers, it has over 500 full-time teachers, among whom, 40% have got senior professional titles, and 85% hold “Double-qualification Certificates” and 80% achieved at least a master’s degree. Furthermore, guest professors from the academicians ofChina’s Engineer Academy and experts from other famous universities worldwide are invited to lecture at the college every year.

        JCET adheres to the education philosophy of “student-oriented” and conducts the “four-in –one” education principle, aiming to train students’ overall development in their four natures: thoughts, humanities, science and profession. Focus on the training of the students’ professional skills, NTVTC has achieved remarkable success over the years as a result of achieving a high standard of excellence, and has also developed rapidly from being aware of the demand to educate with a focus on emerging technologies. JCET is the Chairman unit of the Management Committee of Textile and Clothing Vocational Group of Jiangsu, the Vice-Chairman unit of Textile and Clothing Education Society of China, and the Standing Chairman unit of Higher Vocational Education and Research Society of China.

        Benefitting from the opening-up philosophy in education, JCET has established JCET -Kangan as an earlier Sino-Australian program. So far it has set up international cooperation with Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, Saxion University of Applied Sciences of theNetherlands, Andong Science College of Korea, University College Birmingham of UK and Citta Studi Biella ofItaly. A research project on international cooperation has been ranked as one of Key Education Research Projects in National 10th Five-year Plan. A teaching reform project has been awarded First Prize of Excellent Achievements in Higher international Education at provincial level. International Business, a Sino-Australian project, has been listed in Featured Specialties of Jiangsu Higher Education. The international programs are having been smoothly implemented in the past few years. More than 100 western teachers and nearly 200 European and Australian students have joined international exchange programs here. Over 100 professional JCET teachers have studied abroad, which enriches their knowledge and broaden their horizon. JCET was also granted “Advanced College of International Cooperation” by Jiangsu Provincial Government" in 2011 and 2012.
